There are certain signs that fall has officially arrived in West Michigan.
The leaves start changing. The air gets crisp. And suddenly, everyone has very strong opinions about where to get the best apple cider and donuts.
This week on Coffee with Steve & Margaux, we’re embracing one of our favorite Michigan traditions and sharing some of the orchards, cider mills and local businesses that make fall here pretty hard to beat.
There’s Robinette’s Apple Haus & Winery, where cider, donuts and a corn maze make it feel like fall the minute you arrive.
Engelsma’s Apple Barn & Cider Mill, a fourth-generation family farm, brings some serious cider credentials to the conversation.
Then there’s Hill Brothers Orchards, plus cider destinations throughout Hudsonville and Sparta, including Farmhaus Cider Co., Klein Cider Mill and Grandview Orchard, where small-batch cider and local traditions keep people coming back year after year.
And for the grown-ups? Vander Mill brings Michigan apples into the hard-cider world with seasonal flavors, food and a place to settle in and enjoy fall.
That’s the thing about West Michigan.
Our orchards and cider mills aren’t only seasonal attractions. They’re family farms, local businesses and gathering places run by the people who help make West Michigan cool.
And we couldn’t talk cider without bringing something out of the Drake family archives.
