Jewelry with a Purpose: How Rebel Nell Is Changing Lives One Piece at a Time
Nov 25, 2025
Amy Peterson’s Social Enterprise Brings Style, Strength, and Sisterhood to Grand Rapids
If you’ve ever wanted to wear a story, meet Rebel Nell—a woman-owned social enterprise that transforms graffiti, vintage textiles, and historic materials into powerful, one-of-a-kind jewelry.
Co-founded by Amy Peterson, Rebel Nell employs women transitioning out of shelters in Detroit and now West Michigan, offering them income, skill-building, and independence through creative work. From graffiti necklaces to the Hudson’s ring made from vintage department store shopping bags, every piece has a past—and a purpose.
Now with a storefront in Grand Rapids, Rebel Nell is building community connections through entrepreneurship. On December 10th, they’ll host a “Bring Your Own Entrepreneur” event—inviting women business owners to gather, collaborate, and support each other in a safe, inspiring space.
This isn’t just shopping—it’s supporting a movement that values people, planet, and profit. From street art to statement earrings, Rebel Nell proves that when women rise, communities thrive.
