One Year of Coffee: Why We Do This
The story behind Coffee with Steve & Margaux—and the cool people who make West Michigan an extraordinary place to call home

A year ago, Steve & Margaux Drake hit publish on a simple idea: sit down over coffee and spotlight the cool people, places, and things that make West Michigan an incredible place to live. One year later, Coffee with Steve & Margaux has become a community connector—part mini-interview show, part love letter to Grand Rapids and beyond.

The concept was built for connection. Steve loves coffee (and the cozy, stay-home vibe). Margaux loves storytelling and bringing people together. And together, they created a format that’s short, fun, and easy to binge—each episode introducing someone you should know in West Michigan.

Their very first guest, Norina Cadili (now a Regional VP of Operations at AHC), set the tone: champion leaders, celebrate women in business, and keep the spotlight on people building real impact. Since then, a theme has echoed in nearly every episode—especially from transplants and first-time visitors: West Michigan’s people are warm, welcoming, and genuinely kind.

That’s the “why” behind Coffee. It’s not just content—it’s community. It’s watching viewers show up at a featured business. It’s meeting guests in real life later and hearing, “We loved doing Coffee,” and “people have come in as a result of your show!”  It’s being known around town as “the coffee people,” and wearing that title proudly.

Next up? More guests, more stories—and coming in 2026…Coffee pop-ups! Because when you connect good people, good things grow.
