Wrench Club Is Giving Grand Rapids Gearheads a Place to Gather
Aug 18, 2026Coleman Brook shares how Wrench Club is bringing tools, service bays, community, and car culture to downtown Grand Rapids
Some people collect art.
Some people collect wine.
Some people collect cars, tools, parts, projects, and “I swear I can fix that” confidence.
This episode of Coffee with Steve & Margaux is for them.
Steve and Margaux talked with Coleman Brook, co-founder of Wrench Club, a new members-only DIY auto club coming to downtown Grand Rapids. The idea is simple, smart, and very needed: give car enthusiasts a proper place to work on their vehicles, connect with other gearheads, and enjoy the culture around cars without needing their own fully equipped garage.
Because downtown living is amazing.
But your parking ramp is not exactly the dream spot for changing oil, swapping parts, or figuring out why that mysterious little sound is suddenly louder.
Wrench Club is designed to solve that.
Members will have access to:
- Fully outfitted service bays
- Special tools and equipment
- Lifts and organized workspace
- A clubhouse for events and socializing
- Race simulators
- A community platform for advice, questions, and shared knowledge
Located on Stocking Avenue NW near the Bridge Street Market area, Wrench Club is bringing something fresh to the west side of downtown Grand Rapids: a place where car people can work, learn, gather, and build community around a shared passion.
Coleman’s love of cars started early, shaped by family, BMWs, amateur racing, and the simple joy of being around people who understand that cars are rarely just transportation.
They are stories.
They are projects.
They are identity.
They are freedom.
And sometimes, yes, they are a very expensive way to learn patience.
What makes Wrench Club so exciting is that it fills a real gap in urban life. Grand Rapids has more people living downtown, more people choosing condos, and more people wanting access to city life without giving up the hobbies that make them feel like themselves.
That is exactly why people like Coleman make West Michigan cool.
They see what is missing, build something useful, and create a place where people can belong.
Whether you are a serious car enthusiast, a weekend tinkerer, or someone who has always wanted to learn more about your own vehicle, Wrench Club is one to watch.
